Our Youth Hapkido program welcomes children ages ~3 through 15 in a curriculum that introduces age-appropriate self-defense techniques in a supportive, family-oriented environment. Classes emphasize partner practice where older students mentor younger ones, building coordination, focus, respect, and confidence while fostering a cooperative community.
A foundational aspect of our curriculum is teaching calm control. Unlike sport martial arts with competitive sparring or point scoring, Hapkido trains only defensive responses—not initiating attack. Students learn to stay composed under pressure, using evasion, joint locks, and strikes to handle grabs or pushes, equipping them to manage bullying or stranger encounters through escape, and situational awareness.
Students gain lasting physical, mental, and emotional benefits in a setting that stretches their capacity: enhanced fitness and motor skills, sharper concentration, and goal-setting via belt progression. They develop confidence, self-control, resilience, and sympathy through cooperative exercises and calm responses to stress. Our Youth Hapkido program strives to instill lifelong habits of perseverance and mindful decision-making, with parents often noting lasting improvements in behavior, posture, and attitude that benefit all parts of their life.
